Showerheads can be dangerous breading grounds for all sorts of bacteria!
US scientists have discovered that every 3rd showerhead is infested with colonies of dangerous bacteria. Means of disinfection can not neutralise this problem. Some bacteria such as Legionella are of potential concern to human health.
Scale deposits are a common nesting grounds for biofilm! So make sure you de-scale your shower head regularly. Or fit a proven method of dealing with scale, like a water softener or an Aquabion.
